Gibson Mary Ford Les Paul Standard Goldtop w/ Burstbucker PAFs

Mary Ford’s contributions to the development of the electric guitar truly cannot be overstated; she did, after all, assist in the design process for Gibson’s first ever solidbody electric alongside her then-husband and musical partner Les Paul. As the story goes, in 1958 (some six years after the Les Paul model’s introduction) Gibson created a one-of-one Les Paul for Ford, custom-built and featuring a floral design motif on the ES-295-style pickguard and added armrest. This is the first-ever reissue of that legendary instrument, boasting the same eye-catching aesthetics, including Cherry finish on the back and sides (rare for a Goldtop), and a pair of Burstbucker PAF humbuckers.

Weighing 9lbs 5oz, traditional tonewoods include a solid non-weight relieved mahogany body, two-piece maple top, mahogany neck, and bound rosewood fingerboard. At the heart of this Mary Ford Les Paul are a pair of Burstbucker #2 and #3 pickups in the neck and bridge positions, respectively: the Burstbucker #2 is a faithful PAF iteration, yielding excellent clarity and warmth. The Burstbucker #3 in the bridge position is more hotly wound, wax-potted for optimal feedback rejection and featuring Alnico II construction.
