1991 Gibson Custom Shop Edition Pre-Historic '54 Les Paul Custom Black Beauty w/ Case, Yamano

Up for sale, a 1991 Gibson Custom Shop Edition ‘54 Les Paul Custom “Black Beauty” “Pre-Historic” model in excellent condition and in perfect working order, complete with a hardshell case. A limited run made for Gibson’s Japanese distributor Yamano, this rare and early ‘54 reissue was one of sparingly few made in this “Custom Shop Edition,” predating the establishment of Gibson’s official Custom Shop by a couple of years.

Produced during an increasingly heralded era of Gibson production colloquially known as the “good wood” era, this Pre-Historic Les Paul Custom boasts a mahogany body with a mahogany top, mahogany neck, and bound ebony fingerboard, faithful to ‘54 spec. The all-mahogany construction yields a potent midrange warmth and bark, paired with the glassy articulation and treble cut of the ebony board. The P-100 pickups offer P-90 performance without the hum, delivering touch-sensitive trebles, midrange growl, and bold, fat low end. This Custom Shop Edition ‘54 Les Paul Custom weighs 12lbs 1oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.
