Gibson Custom Historic Pre-War SJ-200 Reissue, Adirondack Red Spruce & Rosewood, Vintage Sunburst VOS

The Gibson Custom Historic Pre-War SJ-200 is crafted at Gibson’s Bozeman, MT factory, faithfully replicating the original Pre-War version of the SJ-200 with solid rosewood back and sides paired with a thermally-aged Adirondack red spruce top and ebony fingerboard. This Custom Shop model delivers exceptional vintage accuracy in its construction, presentation and tone, finished in VOS Vintage Sunburst nitro lacquer.

Weighing 5lbs 1oz, the model described by Gibson as "King of the Flat-tops" is truly an impressive instrument both visually and sonically, and few acoustic instruments can match the sheer projection and power of an SJ-200. With a lower bout that's 17" in width and a body depth of over 4 1/2", the tone of this particular Gibson is extremely bold, full and even-sounding, with equal presence and power afforded each string. The Pre-War-spec rosewood construction, only seen from the model’s introduction in 1937 until 1947, results in terrific detail and warmth. This SJ-200 is broad, smooth and commanding with a rich, woody overarching character and a sonic depth beyond later SJs with maple back/sides.
