1995 Gibson J-200 Deluxe Limited Run Jumbo Sunburst, Rosewood Back + Sides, Near-Mint w/ Case

Up for sale, a 1995 Gibson J-200 Deluxe in near-mint, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case and Gibson-branded leather strap. This exceptionally rare iteration of the J-200 was handcrafted at the Bozeman, MT factory in limited quantities for just one year, boasting considerable abalone marquetry. This model also dates to an increasingly heralded era of Gibson production colloquially known as the “good wood” era, reflected in the tonewoods seen here.

Unlike most Jumbo-bodied acoustics offered by Gibson, this J-200 Deluxe features Indian rosewood back and sides instead of the usual maple. This ensures a richer, deeper tonal response with broader bass and more low midrange. An impressive instrument both visually and sonically, few acoustic instruments can match the sheer projection and power of a J-200. With a lower bout that's 17" in width and a body depth of over 4 1/2", the tone of this particular Gibson Jumbo is defined, full and balanced, with equal presence afforded each string. It’s a particularly muscular strummer that retains excellent note attack, and the guitar is also outfitted with an active piezo undersaddle pickup. Weighing 5lbs 9oz, this J-200 Deluxe has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 12-53 bronze strings and easy-playing action.

Neck Specs:

-Wood: Flame maple (two-piece, walnut stringer)
-Shape: Slender C, full shoulders, measuring .825" 1st fret, .900" 9th fret
-Fretboard: Ebony, multi-ply binding, abalone crown inlays
-Frets: Slender, faint wear beneath the plain strings on frets 1-5
-Scale Length: 25 1/2"
-Nut: 1.725"
-Tuners: Imperial buttons, gold-plated (aged)
-Serialization: Eight-digit stamp dates to ‘95

Body specs:

-Wood: Spruce, Indian rosewood
-Bracing: X (straight/non-scalloped)
-Bridge: Ebony open “moustache” with abalone inlay, carved bone saddle
-Pickup: Piezo undersaddle (active)
-Pickguard: Tortoise, floral design
-Label: Serialized orange oval, Bozeman, MT

The gloss Vintage Sunburst nitro lacquer finish is framed on all sides by abalone purfling, with an abalone centerline on the back, and the finish exhibits isolated vertical checking on top at the lower bout. This is a crack-free, well-kept example, with just a few tiny dings on top at the lower bout and a few faint finish scratches. The nitro gloss on the neck profile is pristine, highlighting notable dimensional figuring in the flame maple.

The original brown Lifton-style hardshell case is included, along with a Gibson premium leather strap.
