2020 Fender Made in Japan Limited Collection Stratocaster Indigo Dye w/ Lipstick Pickups & Case, 1 of 15

Up for sale, a 2020 Fender Made in Japan Limited Collection Stratocaster Indigo Dye in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. This exceedingly rare Fender Japan exclusive model, one of just 15 such instruments produced (15 Strats and 15 Teles), was crafted using the traditional Japanese technique of indigo dyeing known as aizome. Highly reputed worldwide for its dark, rich blue tones (most typically seen on Japanese denim), this technique involves repeated dipping of the dyed article into jars of indigo solution. According to Fender Japan, the body of this Stratocaster was dipped into indigo more than a dozen times. The end result is a smooth satin finish with varying shades of blue where the dye has interacted with the grain structures and pores of the tonewoods, accented by gold hardware including a gold anodized aluminum pickguard, outfitted with a trio of “lipstick” single coil pickups.

The body is crafted from ash with a flame maple top, paired with a roasted maple neck and slab rosewood fingerboard. The trio of "Lipstick" single coil pickups capture the round, full-sounding cleans of of a Danelectro’s unique original 1950s design: they're jangly when clean, with a dynamic grit and creaminess when overdriven, and the standard Strat wiring configuration enable spanky sounds at the “in-between” positions on the five-way pickup selector. Weighing 7lbs 7oz, this Limited Collection Stratocaster Indigo Dye has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.
