2012 Fender '62 Stratocaster ST62/ASH/MH Transparent Blue + Headstock SSH Near-Mint, Japan MIJ

Up for sale, a 2012 Fender Stratocaster ā€˜62 vintage reissue model ST62/ASH/MH in near-mint, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. This rare ā€œMade in Japanā€ Stratocaster features a gloss Transparent Blue finish over an ash body, complete with matching headstock. This is a notably rare variant of the ST62/ASH platform, likely produced as an FSR (Factory Special Run) release for a single dealer, boasting an SSH pickup complement.

Lightweight 7lbs 3oz, this Stratocaster offers plenty of note attack, sweet sustain and layered midrange detail. The pair of ST-Vintage single coil pickups in the neck and middle positions are clear and detailed, offering hollow quack at the ā€œin-betweenā€ positions on the five-way pickup selector switch, and the Dragster humbucker at the bridge is big and bold, offering a great counterpoint to the single coils and taking gain well. This ST62/ASH/MH has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.

Neck Specs:

-Wood: Maple
-Shape: Medium C, measuring .860ā€ 1st fret, .980ā€ 12th fret
-Fretboard: Rosewood, 22-fret, 9 1/2ā€œ radius
-Frets: Narrow/tall, no wear
-Scale Length: 25 1/2ā€
-Nut: 1.650ā€ (42mm), bone
-Tuners: Kluson-style, Gotoh
-Serialization: ā€œMade in Japan,ā€ JD12-prefix
-Factory Markings: Model stamps on neck heel/pocket

Body Specs:

-Wood: Ash
-Pickups: ST-Vintage single coil x2, Dragster humbucker x1
-Controls: Volume, Tone x2, Five-way pickup selector
-Hardware: Synchronized Tremolo, jack cup
-Plastics: Four-ply white pearloid pickguard (factory protective film intact), cream pickup covers/knobs

The gloss Transparent Blue finish on the body exhibits some yellowing of the clear coat yielding a greenish hue and highlighting the grain of the ash body. There’s barely a mark on the body, and the gloss on the neck profile is similarly flawless.

A modern Fender gigbag is included.
