1990 Fender '72 Stratocaster ST72-75SC Yellow White Yngwie-Spec w/ Scalloped Board, Japan MIJ Fujigen

Up for sale, a 1990 Fender Stratocaster ā€˜72 vintage reissue model ST72-75SC in 100% original condition and in perfect working order. This uncommon ā€œMade in Japanā€ Strat was crafted at the Fujigen factory during the golden age of Fender Japan production, essentially a progenitor of the Yngwie Malmsteen signature model ST72, sharing a scalloped fretboard and '72-centric features including a large headstock, bullet truss rod, three-bolt F neck plate, and block bridge saddles.

And while this Stratocaster boasts ā€œST72-86DSCā€ model stamps in the neck heel and pocket, this example lacks the factory DiMarzio pickups to substantiate the ā€œDā€ in the model suffix, otherwise matching spec fo the ST72-75SC iteration of the Yngwie-style platform.

Tonewoods include a basswood body and one-piece maple neck, and this ST72-75 weighs 8lbs 1oz. The trio of alnico magnet single coils offer a range of traditional Strat tonalities, with chiming sparkle, percussive cut and bell-like sweetness on tap, plus hollow quack at the ā€œin-betweenā€ positions on the five-way pickup selector switch. This Stratocaster ST72-75 has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 9-42 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.

-Wood: Maple
-Shape: Medium C, measuring .835ā€ 1st fret, .910ā€ 12th fret

There are two repaired splits in the neck pocket, one on the treble-side cutaway and the other between the neck pocket and neck pickup route. Cosmetic wear on the gloss Yellow White (factory-aged Olympic White) finish includes a large chip on the perimeter at the treble-side lower bout and smaller dings consistent with use, largely limited to the lower bout. The ambered gloss on the neck profile is smooth and clean.
