1988 Fender Stratocaster ‘57 Vintage Reissue ST57-55 Black w/ Hangtag, Japan MIJ Fujigen

Up for sale, a 1988 Fender Stratocaster ‘57 vintage reissue model ST57-55 in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hangtag. This “Made in Japan” Stratocaster was crafted at the Fujigen factory for the Japanese domestic market during the golden age of Fender Japan production, long ago discontinued and uncommon outside of its country of origin.

The trio of single coil pickups feature Alnico magnet construction, and these pickups deliver classic Strat tonalities: the neck is round and bell-like, and the bridge pickup provides sparkling cut, with thinned-out cut in the "in-between" positions on the five-way switch. This ST57-55 weighs 8lbs, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.

Neck Specs:

-Wood: Maple
-Shape: Medium C, measuring .845” 1st fret, .990” 12th fret
-Fretboard: Maple, vintage-spec 7 ¼” radius
-Frets: Slender, no wear
-Scale Length: 25 ½”
-Nut: 1.650” (42mm), bone
-Tuners: Kluson-style, Gotoh
-Serialization: “Made in Japan,” E-prefix
-Factory Markings: Model stamps on neck heel/pocket, small blue “55” sticker on back of peghead denotes original model tier and price (¥55,000)

Body Specs:

-Wood: Basswood
-Pickups: ST-Vintage single coil x3
-Controls: Volume, Tone x2, Five-way pickup selector
-Harness: Untouched solder, full-size Japanese pots date to October, 1987 and January, 1988
-Hardware: Synchronized Tremolo, jack cup
-Plastics: One-ply white pickguard, aged knobs/pickup covers

The gloss Black finish shows a bit of pick scuffing, one finish chip on the tip of the treble-side body horn, and a few minor dings and scratches on the rest of the body. The ambered gloss on the neck profile is smooth, with a few very shallow nicks that are practically imperceptible to the palm.
