1981 Gibson Victory MV X Vintage Electric Guitar Twilight Blue w/ Case

Up for sale, a 1981 Gibson Victory MV X in excellent condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardsell case and owner’s manual. The MV X, sometimes referred to as the MV-10, was the top-tier offering in Gibson’s short-lived (1981-84) Victory series, designed to capture a slice of the then-burgeoning “Superstrat” market with a more aggressive, angular double-cutaway design and an HSH pickup complement with 10 distinct voicings via the five-way blade pickup selector switch and the global Coil Tap mini-toggle (hence the X/10 designation in the model’s name).

Weighing 9lbs 4oz, the body is crafted from Eastern rock maple, paired with a three-piece Eastern rock maple neck and a bound ebony fingerboard, resulting in a bold, clear and immediate acoustic response. The pickups were all designed by legendary pickup guru Tim Shaw: the Magna Plus and Magna Plus B humbuckers in the neck and bridge positions, respectively, are rich and thick with plenty of power on tap, retaining a musical feel and smooth treble snap. The Super Stack hum-cancelling single coil in the middle position is focused and punchy, and the global Coil Tap mini-toggle broadens the tonal palette, enabling “voices as thin and sparkling as they are fat and rich” (per an ‘82 Gibson Victory advert).
