Up for sale, a 1980 Fender Stratocaster Hardtail, upgraded with a full suite of Schecter Dream Machine electronics, including a trio of F500T pickups. The Schecter F500T pickups are associated with David Gilmour and Mark Knopfler, heard extensively on Dire Straitsā Making Movies album.
The tonewood complement comprises an ash body, maple neck, and rosewood fretboard, and this Strat weighs 9lbs 1oz. The complete Schecter Van Nuys Era pickguard assembly includes a trio of on/off/coil split mini toggles to individually govern the F500T pickups. These pickups feature oversized pole pieces and a very unique dual-coil design with concentric inner and outer coils: with the inner coils engaged, these pickups deliver quintessential Strat sparkle and spank, and toggling to engage the outer coil (in tandem with the inner coil) yields a notably thicker, almost P-90-esque heft and bark, very much in-line with Knopflerās signature sweet, warm Strat tone. This guitar has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mikeās Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation.
