2009 ESP LTD James Hetfield Truckster Aged Black Satin w/ Case, Japan L-Serial, Metallica

Up for sale, a 2009 ESP LTD James Hetfield Truckster in showroom-clean, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. The rarest variant of the LTD Truckster, models like this one serialized with an L-prefix were Japanese-made (as opposed to Korea), not distributed outside Japan, and offered features essentially identical to their ESP-branded counterparts. Even the Aged Black Satin finish and simulated wear on this Japanese-made LTD is a direct match to ESP-branded models, in stark contrast to the way the Korean-made models were aged.

Designed as a signature model replicating Hetfield’s Custom ESP, seen extensively onstage and used to record some of Metallica’s most essential music, this Truckster features a pair of active EMG pickups. Tonewoods comprise a mahogany body with a three-piece mahogany neck and bound rosewood fretboard, yielding plenty of midrange warmth and natural sustain. The EMG pickup pair includes an 81 at the bridge and a 60 at the neck: utilizing powerful ceramic magnets and close aperture coils, the EMG 81 was designed for optimal note detail, enhanced high end cut, and fluid sustain. The EMG 60 at the neck also features ceramic magnets and a close aperture coil design to ensure plenty of rich harmonics, boosted mids, big lows, and singing highs. This James Hetfield Truckster weighs 7lbs 12oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.
