1991 Orville by Gibson Dove Vintage Sunburst Dreadnought Acoustic Electric Guitar w/ Case

Up for sale, a 1991 Orville by Gibson Dove in near-mint condition and in perfect working order, complete with a hardshell case. Differentiated from the standard Orville-branded instruments, the "Orville by Gibson" guitars represented the highest tier of Japanese construction. Made exclusively for the Japanese market and uncommon outside its country of origin, this rare Orville Dove model is an official Gibson-licensed guitar and a result of a partnership between Gibson USA and their Japanese distributor Yamano Gakki. Named after Gibson's founder, Orville Gibson, this long-since discontinued Orville model was crafted at the Terada factory.

Tonewoods include an X-braced spruce top, figured maple back and sides, a three-piece maple neck, and a bound rosewood fingerboard. This Dove is bright and full-sounding with great projection, big and bold when digging in with a flatpick yet also yielding delicate sparkling tones with the exquisite articulation afforded the tonewood complement. The wound strings have a brassy growl, and the overarching sound yields plenty of woody chop. The factory-installed undersaddle piezo pickup ensures additional flexibility for live use, with an active preamp (three-band EQ) mounted to the upper bout. Weighing 5lbs 3oz, this Dove has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 12-53 bronze strings and easy-playing action.
