1991 Gibson ES-335 Dot Figured Vintage Sunburst w/ 57 Classic PAFs, Case & Hangtags, Yamano

Up for sale, a 1991 Gibson ES-335 “Dot” in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case and hangtags. A discontinued iteration of the ES-335 platform, this guitar captures many finer points of a circa 1959-62 ES-335 including dot inlay on the bound rosewood fingerboard, rounded "Mickey Mouse" ear body horns, and a pair of '57 Classic PAF humbuckers.

This particular example was produced in the “good wood” era and was ordered by Gibson’s Japanese distributor Yamano. Gibson’s USA-made guitars distributed via Yamano are often considered to be among their best, featuring the highest quality woods picked for Gibson’s discerning Japanese audience.

Tonewoods include figured curly maple semi-hollow construction with a maple center block, paired with a one-piece mahogany neck. The '57 Classic PAF humbuckers deliver a smooth bass register, tailored midrange, and sweet, articulate trebles, consistent with Gibson's golden era vintage "Patent Applied For" pickups. The pickups have ample clarity and power, with smooth growl in the bridge position and a sweet, round neck pickup that has great bloom and complex harmonic content. This ES-335 Dot weighs 8lbs 14oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.

The gloss Vintage Sunburst nitro lacquer finish highlights subtle curly figuring in the maple, with lacquer checking throughout. Cosmetic wear is limited to pick scuffing across the guard, subtle rack rash on the lower bout edge, and minor nicks and finish scratches. The nitro gloss on the neck profile is smooth and clean.

The original brown Gibson USA hardshell case is included, along with the Gibson/Yamano hangtags.
