1983 Fender Precision Bass ‘57 Vintage Reissue PB57-95 Black Lacquer w/ USA Fullerton Pickup, Japan MIJ Fujigen

Up for sale, a 1983 Fender Precision Bass ‘57 vintage reissue model PB57-95 in excellent condition and in perfect working order. A rare, top-tier model hailing from Fender Japan's second year of production, this Precision Bass was part of the JV (Japanese Vintage) series made at the Fujigen factory. Features include a gloss Black nitro lacquer finish, USA-made Fullerton split coil pickup, CTS pots, and vintage-correct touches including reverse-gear tuners, threaded bridge saddles, and a gold anodized pickguard.

Weighing 8lbs 9oz and balancing well on a strap, tonewoods include an alder body and a one-piece maple neck. The USA-made gray bobbin split-coil pickup is the same seen in Fullerton reissues of the era, delivering plenty of pillowy thump, rich growl and round treble punch. This PB57-95 has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 45-100 roundwound strings, easy-playing action, and accurate intonation.

Neck Specs:

-Wood: Maple
-Shape: Slender C, measuring .800” 1st fret, .945” 12th fret
-Fretboard: Maple, 7 1/4" vintage-spec radius
-Frets: Slender, leveled/crowned, no wear
-Scale Length: 34”
-Nut: 1.650” (42mm), bone
-Tuners: Clover button, long stems, reverse-geared
-Serialization: “Made in Japan” (headstock face), JV-prefix (neck plate), small blue “95” (half intact) sticker on back of peghead indicates original model tier and price (¥95,000)
-Factory Markings: Neck heel pencil dated 8-23-83, model tier stamp

Body Specs:

-Wood: Alder
-Pickups: Gray bobbin split-coil (Fullerton USA-made)
-Harness: CTS pots, Sprague Orange Drop tone cap
-Hardware: Flat-top knurled knobs, bridge with spiral (threaded) saddles, gold anodized pickguard (modern, Fender Pure Vintage)

The gloss Black nitro lacquer finish shows buckle rash at the belly contour, a few minor finish chips on the lower bout perimeter and back, and various lesser dings and finish scratches on the body as a whole. The ambered gloss on the neck profile is smooth and inviting to the palm with a few shallow marks that are not distracting while fretting.

A faux leather gigbag is included.
