1973 Martin D-41 Vintage Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar, Crack-Free w/ Case

1973 Martin D-41 Vintage Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar, Crack-Free w/ Case

Up for sale, a 1973 Martin D-41 in near-mint condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. The D-41 can trace its upscale dreadnought lineage back to Martin's Pre-War D-45, with the same tonewood recipe and premium appointments including abalone marquetry on the perimeter of the top and soundhole, hexagonal abalone fretboard inlay, and vertical C.F. Martin inlay on the bound headstock veneer. This Martin benefits from a professional neck reset and a new carved bone saddle, augmented with a Fishman Matrix Infinity VT pickup and preamp system.

First introduced in 1969, production totals for the D-41 were quite small given its high price point, and the model was retired in its original incarnation in '92. Tonewoods include an X-braced Sitka spruce top, East Indian rosewood back and sides, mahogany neck, and an ebony fingerboard and bridge. This D-41 is remarkably detailed and dynamic, crystal clear with a big-yet-taut low end. There’s tons of projection on tap, with a shimmer to the top end and a high volume ceiling, responding well to authoritative flat picking. The addition of the Fishman Matrix Infinity provides added onstage functionality, with discreet Volume and Tone wheels at the soundhole. This D-41 weighs 4lbs 13oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 12-53 bronze strings and easy-playing action.
