1971 Guild Maverick 2x10 Vintage Tube Combo Amp w/ Sylvania 7591A

1971 Guild Maverick 2x10 Vintage Tube Combo Amp w/ Sylvania 7591A

Up for sale, a 1971 Guild Maverick 2x10ā€ combo amplifier in excellent condition and in perfect working order. Produced from roughly 1970-73, this 2x10ā€ combo was crafted at the Hoboken, New Jersey factory prior to Guild outsourcing their amp production. A streamlined, no-frills vintage tube tone machine, the Maverick is warm and natural-sounding, featuring a pair of modern Jensen 10ā€ speakers with a unique tube complement driven by a pair of 7591A power tubes.

Delivering roughly 25 watts, the Maverick gets gritty early and continues to yield more hair and smooth, harmonic growl from there. A dual-input, single channel affair, the Maverick’s three-way Tone switch offers a range from a very round, bass-centric tonal profile to a bright, articulate response with boosted upper-mids. Also onboard are a lush, atmospheric spring reverb and a deep, pulsating tremolo with Speed and Depth controls. The tube complement comprises a matched pair of Sylvania 7591A power tubes, with a 6GW8, ECC82, and two 12AX7 preamp valves.

The original pair of Schumacher transformers date to 1971, and the circuit has been freshly serviced by our techs here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar. This Maverick is loaded with a pair of modern Jensen ceramic magnet 8 Ohm speakers.

The original black tolex shows only light wear, with the aluminum-trimmed two-tone grillcloth, raised Guild logo and barrel knobs.
