1961 Fender Pro Brown Panel Pre-CBS Vintage Tube Amp 1x15 Collector-Grade w/ Jensen P15N

1961 Fender Pro Brown Panel Pre-CBS Vintage Tube Amp 1x15 Collector-Grade w/ Jensen P15N

Up for sale, a 1961 Fender Pro in collector-grade condition and in perfect working order. This amp delivers 40 powerful, articulate all-tube watts via a matched pair of Tung Sol 5881 power tubes. Similar in its size, output and features to the concurrently produced Vibrasonic, the Pro breaks up slightly sooner with smaller transformers. Yet with the inclusion of a vintage Jensen P15N speaker, this Pro yields ample headroom, projection and power for both bold Fender cleans and rich, textured drive. The Pro also boasts Fender's unique "Harmonic Vibrato" circuit, and this complex design was Fender's only true pitch-shifting vibrato offered in an amp. Swampy, thick, and very Leslie-esque, it's a three-dimensional, full-bodied effect.

The circuit is dead stock with the exception of two new bias caps cleanly sleeved in their original Minimite wrappers. Transformers include a Triad-made output transformer and a power transformer and choke from Schumacher, with date codes from teh 7th and 12th weeks of ‘61. The preamp is untouched, with a combination of yellow Astron and blue Ajax caps, and all of the original pots are intact. The power supply caps still function as they should, and even the original two-prong gray power cable is present. Tubes include a matched pair of properly biased Tung Sol small bottle 5881 (6L6GC) power tubes and an assortment of modern Groove Tubes and vintage RCA-branded valves in the preamp.

The speaker is a vintage Jensen P15N Alnico magnet driver with a clean frame and date code translating to the 38th week of 1961. The speaker has been reckoned. The tube chart is intact inside the cabinet, and the "KE" stamp dates to May of 1961.

This Pro retains its original rough brown tolex and oxblood grillcloth, both of which are remarkably well-kept. The faceplate is in great shape, complete with the full set of original brown barrel knobs and pristine graphics. The original flat Fender logo, sphinx glides (feet), and nickel corners are present, along with the original (unbroken) dogbone handle.
