1980 Martin D-25 K2 Koa Vintage Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar, Near-Mint w/ Case

1980 Martin D-25 K2 Koa Vintage Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar, Near-Mint w/ Case

Up for sale, a 1980 Martin D-25 K2 in near-mint condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. A particularly uncommon Martin model, the D-25 K2 was produced in sparingly limited quantities from 1980-89, featuring koa body construction and very rare C.F. Martin-branded Sperzel tuning machines. This well-kept first-year example is 100% original save for a replacement pickguard (original included) and carved compensated bone saddle.

Prized for its overall balance and sweetness, koa splits the difference between the warmth of mahogany and the articulate clarity of spruce or even maple. Paired with Martin’s classic dreadnought projection and potency, the all-koa body is big, bold, and punchy sounding, with terrific string-to-string definition. This D-25 K2 weighs 4lbs 4oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 12-53 bronze strings and easy-playing action.

Neck Specs:

-Wood: Mahogany
-Shape: Soft V, measuring .875ā€ 1st fret, 1.015ā€ 9th fret
-Fretboard: Rosewood, dot inlays
-Frets: Slender, faint wear beneath the plain strings on frets 1-2
-Scale Length: 25.4ā€
-Nut: 1 11/16ā€
-Tuners: Sperzel (C.F. Martin-branded)
-Serialization: Stamp on heel block dates to 1980

Body Specs:

-Wood: Koa
-Bracing: X (straight/non-scalloped)
-Bridge: Rosewood, compensated bone saddle (replacement), rosewood plate
-Pickguard: Black (replacement, original included)
-Marquetry: Multi-ply purfling, black binding, 5-9-5 rosette

The gloss nitro lacquer finish highlights subtle curly figuring in the koa top; this is a crack-free, well-kept dreadnought, with just a few small dings on the back and a couple finish scratches on top. The nitro gloss on the neck profile is flawless.

The original molded hardshell case is included.
